With the growth of EVs continuing in 2023, Tusker reports its strongest ever year in the company’s history.

Following the acquisition at the beginning of 2023 by the Lloyds Banking Group, Tusker’s fleet grew by more than 90% in 2023, with EVs accounting for 82% of the cars delivered. Despite a slight slowing in other areas of the new EV market in 2024, Tusker is continuing to see growth in orders for electric cars, as the company continues to break its own records for deliveries month on month.

Tusker’s average CO2 emissions of its fleet have also dropped to just 13g CO2/Km.

Despite record rises being seen in insurance costs for owner-drivers, Tusker is continuing to focus on the affordability of driving an electric car through a salary sacrifice arrangement and the company’s policies remain cost effective. With amounts fixed for the duration of the agreement, and with BIK rates published until 2028, drivers are fully aware of their monthly commitment for the duration of their agreement.

Affordability is a key aspect for many of Tusker’s drivers who are taking full advantage of the cost-effective cars available on its scheme. In 2023, the Nissan Leaf, Mini Hatch electric, VW ID3 and MG4 featured in the most-ordered vehicles on the scheme. With more new manufacturers entering the UK market this year Tusker are expecting to see many of these prove very popular across their driver base.

Working with a broad selection of blue-chip corporations, SMEs, third-sector and public bodies, Tusker allows drivers of all incomes to enjoy the benefits of its schemes – which is now available to more than 1 in 5 employed people in the UK, ensuring more people than ever before have access to an affordable new car with Tusker.

Kit Wisdom, Managing Director of Tusker comments: “We’re seeing more and more people make the switch to an EV thanks to the affordable way employees are able to drive one on the Tusker scheme.”

“Our continued growth shows that while an EV might not be for everyone, the vast majority of drivers are keen to drive EVs with the proportion of people choosing petrol vehicles dropping year on year.”
