Driver training specialist HGVC is warning bus companies to recruit, train and test new drivers now to meet growing demand and overcome driver shortages. HGVC is recommending bus companies start training and testing new drivers soon to avoid the more immediate shortage of bus drivers becoming a more long-term problem.
With many operators seeing growing demand for bus service as people get back to commuting post pandemic, some are struggling to recruit and train enough new drivers.
Moreover, despite an increase in capacity following Government action, many expect large vehicle training and testing to be stretched as businesses train up HGV drivers to meet Christmas demand.
To address these challenges and avoid a short-term shortfall becoming a more chronic issue, many operators will need help with large scale PCV license acquisition.
